Tourism in Seattle and King County sees strong increase compared to recent years

Seattle and King County welcomed a record 40 million visitors in 2024, representing a 5.3% increase over 2023. This influx of tourists contributed $8.8 billion to the local economy, a 7.2% rise from the previous year. Members of the local hospitality industry gathered at the Seattle Convention Center to analyze these positive trends and plan for future growth. Tammy Canavan from Visit Seattle highlighted that most visitors are domestic, although international tourism is on the rise. The tourism sector now supports over 68,000 jobs in the region, reflecting a 4.9% growth from the previous year. Canavan attributed Seattle's appeal to its unique combination of urban life and access to nature. She also mentioned that the city's welcoming environment encourages visitors to feel comfortable. As Seattle continues to attract more tourists, local businesses are optimistic about sustained economic benefits.
